- End of EWS support and transition to Microsoft Graph
End of EWS support and transition to Microsoft Graph
Microsoft has announced the end of support for Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online next year.
For details, see the official announcement here: Retirement of Exchange Web Services in Exchange Online
This change will affect all environments that use EWS to access mailboxes for email extraction, such as downloading invoices.
Ready-made solution:
Microsoft GraphWe are ready for this change and offer a fully functional connection via the Microsoft Graph API , which:
- maintains the same behavior as the current EWS connection,
- does not require major intervention in the configuration,
- brings higher security and long-term support from Microsoft.
The transition to MS Graph is provided by a consultant (TAS administrator) and involves short-term work, including communication and testing with your Microsoft Exchange / Microsoft 365 administrator.
To implement the transition, a brief interaction with this administrator will be required, who will grant permission to the Team Assistant application to access the mailbox.
Detailed steps will be provided as part of the transition planning.
Recommendation
There is no need to wait until EWS support ends – you can switch at any time.
We recommend planning it no later than the end of the first half of 2026 to ensure the smooth functioning of the email connection. If you are still using TAS version 4 , the transition from EWS will be handled individually .
We assume that most environments are already migrating or will migrate to TAS 5 at this time, where the connection to Microsoft Graph is fully available.
If you are interested in migrating, please contact us - we will be happy to help you with its planning and setup.
