Microsoft Disabling Basic Auth for SMTP
Microsoft is disabling Basic Authentication for the SMTP protocol. If your TAS instance sends emails via a Microsoft 365 (Office 365) SMTP server using a username and password, you must migrate to modern OAuth 2.0 authentication.
Who is affected
- Customers and partners who have TAS configured to send emails via Microsoft's SMTP server (
smtp.office365.com) - Instances where SMTP is configured with a username and password (Basic Auth)
What needs to be done
You need to switch from Basic Auth to OAuth 2.0 authentication. This requires registering an application in Azure Active Directory and updating the SMTP configuration in TAS.
